Putting learning into action
I learned Power BI in my spare time, then had to use it for real to help clinicians and managers plan a vaccination rollout.
I was settling into my new role in the Business Intelligence team, maintaining existing and developing new reports and dashboards. Then Covid-19 hit.
We needed to develop an internal hospital dashboard to track the situation across all sites. In a very fluid and demanding environment, the first draft was up within days, and then enhanced and refined as new requirements arose. Operational and clinical teams used it, along with planning and performance managers.
I also spent a lot of time building reporting views for the public health intelligence team's analysts.
Over Christmas 2020/21, I completed an excellent online course on Power BI. I then went back to work and was tasked with building the first version of an internal vaccination dashboard. It was widely used by clinicians, operational and performance managers, and built in conjunction with the local public health intelligence team (the team I'm in now).
